Smack my Bitch Up!

Man--i sure have missed Pierre Houde's clichés. And Joel Bouchard's eyebrows. (he wasn't wearing a violet shirt--what!?) It just feels right to have hockey back on RDS, my life wasn't the same without it. (ok i know, intense right?) Also awesome to hear Brunet's first "oyoyoyoyoy" of the season. :) (for those of you that play RDS Hockey--the drinking game, CHUG!!!!

Ok--back to the game. Here are my notes/observations:

-Michael Grabner: amazing explosive capabilities. he just blew past garfield (spacek) with incredible speed.

-neutral zone breakdown: habs have a serious difficulty stopping the puck between the blue lines. That and blocking the puck at our own blue line.

-That being said about D, our offensive attack moves nicely enough but again has difficulty crossing the offensive blue line. Cammy and Pleks were decent, though. I was impressed with them.

-Thomas Jagr (Pleks)'s goal was just sexy. 'Nuff said. Patience, though Vokoun definitely was a little slow with his displacement.

-Penalties: Why is it that every season we manage to rack up soooo many penalties? And they're the kind of penalties that stem from slow feet and laziness. Henry, for example: you can just see this guy has to work on his speed before he can be called up to the NHL. But tripping and holding penalties are no excuse. Cross checking: The refs are being really strict about this this year. Still, we HAVE to find a way to lower those penalty numbers, or else it'll come back to bite us in the ass.

-3 pts, 6 shots for the Cammy trio. woot.
-PYATT 5-HOLE!!!!!! let's just say that it was the first shot backstrom faced in this 3rd period... but a really nice job by maxwell to create the play.

They picked it up in the 3rd. I'm happy to see this. Not to mention that White had his 2nd goal which is really nice and will make it difficult for Martin to make decisions. I do believe the best thing would be to send him down--but it's nice to see that there will be a support cast for us should the big bad injury bug strike. (KNOCK ON WOOD).

awwww dumont--what a trooper. Ellerby definitely cheap shotted Pyatt with a deliberate face wash on the boards. Even though Dumont was at least a foot shorter, i liked how he stood up for his teammates.

That being said--this is one scrap-fest. taker' easy boys and don't get injured.

Sarge over and out.

A better showing by the Habs, let's build on this!!!!
