Heart's on Fire

--What a great way to finish off the pre-season. Yes, we played against a split-squad team who were missing their best players... but that doesn't mean that this should be a complete write-off instead.

I'm seriously loving the pleks-cammy-kosti line. These guys made one of the nicest goals of the pre-season: a beautiful tic-tac-toe that probably wouldn't have worked against top NHL guys but i'll still take it.

Price came out stronger and made a few awesome saves, including an awesome pad save in the 1st. We took A LOT less dumb penalties, and lo and behold we actually played a more fluid and consistent game. In all honesty, we were getting outworked in the first few minutes of the game, but got on a serious role afterwards.

I still don't get why they're employing the "box" tactic on the PK, when the diamond is a lot more aggressive and cuts off the point shot.... but that's just me.

I also think Cammy may be further disciplined by the league--it wouldn't surprise me to see him suspended for 1-2 games (though i really hope it doesn't happen!). that wasn't a very smart thing to do, but those two were rough-housing it all night so it wasn't surprising that tempers got a little overheated. fingers crossed that there won't be a suspension.

Also, kudos to quebec city for putting on such an AMAZING game. the fans, thirsty for NHL hockey, flooded the arena. I'm sure there were some that drove from montreal to see the game, but for the citizens of that city, it gave them the glimpse of a potentially not-so-distant future. Having the Nordiques back in town would DEFINITELY put some spice back into hockey in Quebec. I'm willing to bet that the two would easily compete with ontario and alberta for the most heated provincial rivalry. This may still be a few years out, but you could feel the energy in that building. HEY BETTMAN, YOU WATCHING THIS!? this game had more people in the stands then most of the regular season usually do in games down south. the market is there--they're willing to build a new arena, the government is backing them......... the non-logical thing to do is sit back and say "we'll evaluate this later"

ANYWAYS. end of the pre-season. Thursday will be one helluva match up-- can't WAIT to FINALLY get this season ROLLING!

LETS GO LES BOYS!
